Boo Boo is a 4-5 year old blind cocker spaniel.
We adopted Boo Boo last March from a less than ideal situation. He had been living outside in a dirt yard for about 1 year. We initially wanted to foster Boo Boo until we could find him a home, but he has such a wonderful disposition that here we are, 6 months later, and just now looking for a forever home for him . He is now indoor, crate-trained and does very well on his schedule. He is completely blind in both eyes, although we think he can sense some light/dark transitions. The last vet to examine him thought he was 4 â 5 years old. Boo Boo absolutely adores people and does well around cats (we have 3 and have not had any problems), but from what weâve seen, he tends to be a bit aggressive around other dogs. We do not have any other dogs of our own, so Iâm not sure what his reaction would be to another permanent canine resident. He is so good natured I imagine he would get used to another dog fairly quickly.
Boo Boo has an extremely sweet, loving disposition, and wants so badly to be around people. Since he is blind, he requires a home that is willing to practice extra patience and understanding when caring for him. Whoever adopts Boo Boo absolutely must be willing to continue keeping him indoors for at least part of his day â in particular, he cannot be left outside in the rain, as rain washes away all his familiar smells and makes it difficult for him to hear where things are, rendering him basically senseless. Boo Boo has had all of his shots and is fixed. We will send all of his things with him to his new home (ie, his toys, crate, whatever dog food we have at the time, and the Comfortis and Heartguard we have been giving him).
