Myrtle is the birth mommy to Lars, Axel, Gunnar, Lauris, and Finn. She graciously accepted Jonas and Sunny into her litter and raised them as her own. Then, two weeks later when I had a 2 day old bottle baby surrendered to me, Myrtle "stole" Leo out of his basket and raised him as well. Needless to say, she has been a bit overwhelmed with 8 kittens to raise. I supplemented her nursing with bottle feeding just to make sure everyone was getting enough to eat. Myrtle was living life as a stray when one of our most dedicated volunteers managed to trap her. This volunteer had been feeding Myrtle for over a year and had taken in a few of her kittens from previous litters but was unable to trap Myrtle until this last pregnancy. Myrtle is still adjusting to people and home life. She was quite friendly to me before she gave birth but since giving birth she has been in "mommy mode" and will not allow me to pet her. I am hoping that once the kittens are weaned she will once again be friendly. If you have room in your home and heart from Myrtle, please give me a call. She will be spayed and microchipped once she has finished weaning her kittens. She is FeLV/FIV negative and has been vaccinated.
